FIRST NAMELESS TOWER

1480s-90s Architect is unknown

34.15 metres high. Its silhouette and proportions are much heavier than those of its neighbour. It is possible that during the fire of 1547 which devastated Moscow the tower was damaged when the gunpowder stored inside it exploded. After that it shared the same fate as the Peter Tower: in 1770 it was pulled down in connection with the proposed building of the Kremlin palace, then rebuilt on a different spot (slightly further west), and in 1812 it was blown up by Napoleon's retreating army and later was restored.
