ARMOURY TOWER

1495 Architect Atevis Fryazin the Elder

32.65 metres high. Like the Pine-Grove Tower it was built on the bank of the River Neglinnaya. The architect Alevis Fryazin the Elder, straightened the bed of the Neglinnaya, made several ponds and erected a new Kremlin wall very close to the river.
It has been called the Armoury Tower ever since the new Armoury was built next to it in 1851. Before that it was known as the Stable Tower because of the old stables nearby.
