COMMANDANT TOWER

      41.25 metres high on the Alexan-drovsky Gardens side. It was originally called the Carriage Tower after the nearby Carriage Yard with the conveyances of the Tsar and courtiers.
      Its present name dates from the last, nineteenth century, century when the town commandant moved to the Pleasance Palace close by.
